Far cry from a G.

The other day, two youngsters were sitting in front of my neighbors house under a tree (it was raining).  They sat there for probably around 15 minutes or so.  So i go outside to see what they were up to and asked if I could help them.  One turns around arrogantly and says “What up Loc? You got a problem?”  Now those that know me I’m a far cry from a G.  So I look at the kid with my head tilted saying to myself “You serious?!”

I know this kid wasn’t used to someone coming up to him like that, but yo, you’re by my house, posted up, just smoking.  Not a good thing in my book.  So I asked them to move on.  The other kid seemed like a decent guy and said “We’re just going to finish this cigarette then move on, is that cool?”  “Of course” came my reply.

Now I post this cause I want to pose this question…Why do some kids act tough, when they know they aren’t?  I was like this when I was their age…I remember clearly being a 16-18 year-old knucklehead.  I always acted tougher than I really was…and you know, sometimes I still do this!  I’m not a gangster, and neither was this kid.

Now later on, another kid came up to them, and the group “parted” ways…two went one direction, one went the other…now mind you, 10 minutes later, the two cross my house again…seemingly they got what they needed down the block.

Spring and Summer is coming up, may be, hopefully I see these kids again and we can have a real conversation.
